Gem Tree outback wilderness

This park is approx 145kms from Alice Springs. After hearing about it for several years from our brother in law who used to go there gem hunting, we finally got there five years ago.

When we were asked about visiting this time around, we didnt even think about it before saying yes.

We were there on a Wednesday night (by design) for $20 we had a star lit dinner prepared by the staff. Roast beef, roast onion, potato and pumpkin with broccoli and cauliflower, gravy bread roll and butter. What a feast. It was cold but there were lots of fires around to keep us warm. Tables of eight and I reckon there were ten to twelve tables.

The next morning Warren and Aidan went on a fossicking tour, they supplied everything and a demo was given, then ghey were left to do their own thing. They got quite a few garnets.

Sheri and I walked to the cafe for hot chocolate and then walked out to the

gate, a couple of kms.So peaceful there, good place to unwind. Could have a fire, the boys collected some wood on the way back so we were warm and toasty.
