Footy is supposed to be a winter sport isn't?

We had tickets to the footy yesterday and it was an early game so we left home around 10.30am to catch the train and bus. It was coolish and so I wore a T shirt and a jacket. We got to our seats which were ten rows back from the fence and boy was it hot in the sun. I didn't want to take my jacket off as I knew that I would get sun burnt.

We put up with it (the sun and the heat) for one quarter and then moved back to the back row which was in the shade. Then i needed my jacket on to ward off the breeze, I felt sorry for the players.

After we moved we were closer to the interchange and it was interesting to see how often they were changing, although now there is a limit and i think it is 175 for the game. As the players came off, ice towels were put over their shoulders and given drinks, most were back on within five minutes.

A nasty incident happened and they needed to stretcher one of the players off, they are hoping that he has only strained his neck but they were very careful how they got him onto the stretcher and took him fro the ground. He had the ball and ducked his head as another player ran over to tackle him. As normal, he got a standing ovation when he left.

We left early as Adelaide was twelve goals in front at three quarter time, I think they went on to win by 163 points.

We bought a Jeep!

Everything was going swimmingly, we had the caravan  up for sale to make way for the new one, had a few inquiries. Had a few people want to offer a lot less than we wanted before they even looked at it. We were prepared to drop the price a bit but we didn't want to lose money on it.

Anyway two weeks ago, we got a phone call from the salesman who would be looking after our after sales service. Along with the purchase of the the new van we had also ordered the electric brakes and Anderson plug for the car. He, Sam rang to tell us that the van would be built in the next batch being started in August and was checking our requirements. He then asked what car we would be using as the tow vehicle when Warren told him, he came back and said that he didn't think the towing capacity was enough (the guy from Melbourne who sold us the van said it would be!)

It appeared that Sam was correct and we decided that we couldn't afford a new caravan and another tow vehicle so we cancelled the new van and canceled the ad selling the old van. Back to plan B! We found a Jeep near here and ended up buying it, picking it up last Tuesday. Quite low mileage and had everything on it that we needed. The reason for the Jeep itself is that Warren wanted a diesel and I wanted auto if I am going to help with towing, that cut out a lot of brands.

Before collecting it, we went to the RACQ to get insurance and Warren just couldn't help himself, he stood up and announced "We bought a Jeep!" just like in the adverts.

A Yummy hot drink

We were out today and visited the ginger factory as we were almost had to go for a drive and buy some more. On the way we dropped into the mall and Warren went to JB Hifi and I went to Kmart.

Of course it must when we go to the ginger factory is scones and coffee, then we had lunch a couple of hurs later and another coffee. The house felt cold when we arrived home and I wanted something warm/hot to drink but had already had too much coffee.

This is what I made
one orange squeezed, one teaspoon of ginger sauce, a few mint leaves and top up with boiling/hot water, very warming and refreshing. Oranges and mint from our back yard. I bought the mugs with straws this morning.

Scarves

I have several scarves that I use summer and winter and I often take them off once I am home and leave them in strange places. Mainly because they don't have an actual "home" once I have worn them. I do have new and unused ones in a new decorative box, many that I bought in China, others were gifts that I haven't used as yet.

Last week Ii did something that I have been thinking about for awhile but just hadn't got around to it. I collected them up and tied them onto a coat hanger and hung that behind the bedroom door. Wow! it took a couple of minutes and now they are all in the same place instead of me going searching for a particular when I want to match an outfit. I am not a morning person so this is a great help!

Some of my tops, I feel are a little low but by adding a scarf takes away that space. I have heaps of necklaces that would do the same thing but I haven't found one yet that sits exactly where I want it to, even the couple of adjustable ones that I own seem to get longer or shorter over wearing time.

The red bag holds my Red Hat sash with badges, it has been missing in action for a few months (because I took it off and forgot where I put it!)

Easiest cup cakes

I watched a demo for cup cakes last week as and I needed to take something for morning tea today, I decided to make some. Trouble was, I didn't write the recipe and didn't trust my memory. Normally  I wouldn't worry but as I was taking them some, I wanted them to be reasonable if not good. I started going thru some recipes books (had to blow the dust off first!) and found an easy recipe in a Gluten free 4 Ingredients recipe book.

So so easy one cup of coconut,sugar and milk and one and a half cups of S R flour, if using ordinary flour, its only one cup, mix together and then put into patty pans, I did add some sultanas as I had bought them for the original recipe that I watched.

They only needed about 12 to 15 mins to cook and tasted good, that good that the rest were put straight into the freezer.

Corporate seats at the footy

This year we bought a set of three games to go to see Brisbane's AFL team, the Lions. Sheridan and family were offered tickets and they chose to go last week that same as us, we were going to meet up. Unfortunately two of them were sick and didn't go. Through mobile phones we caught up with them and tried to make our way to find them, not realising at the time that their tickets were in the corporate area.

We climbed the stairs to what we thought would be their area but found we were above them, another phone and it appeared we had to go ut of the grounds and in through another gate. Chris was waiting for us at the gate with the other tickets. Very swish, second tier so above the play but still close enough to see everything and then there was also the big TV screens to watch as well. Their seats were in the front row and we didnt need the cushions that we had taken for our usual seats.

It started to rain and many people left but we didn't, we just put Warren's jackets over our legs and continued to watch. Next thing a security guard was alongside of me, offering me a poncho, apparently it had been left and never collected. I didn't really need it but thanked her and took it anyway, thinking that as she was so nice to come and offer it, I shouldn't knock it back.

The rain lasted for about twenty minutes and there was thunder as well, hail was expected but didn't eventuate thank goodness. The Suns were soundly beaten on the day, we had been hoping that they would win and Ablett was injured so we didn't see him play, maybe next year as he is out for the rest of the year.

One more game of our three which will be next week.

Alterations

I was in a store a couple of weeks ago and picked up a couple of long sleeved tops in a sale. With the cooler weather, long sleeved tops was something that I did seem to be slacking in my wardrobe,(I feel that I cant wear the same things all the time like at home!)

Washed them and hung on hangers ready to wear. I got a call to fill in for some-one who was sick at work which meant working a five day week again. On one of those days, I grabbed one of the new tops and pulled it on. Pulled was the correct word as the sleeves were very tight and I knew that it would have been very uncomfortable to wear it all day.

I was having a whinge on the way to work and daughter says why not put a panel in it? I thought about it and decided that I would have a go at doing that as I couldnt wear it as it was. That meant a trip to Spotlight to buy something similar or a contrast. Ended up with black, it had very long cuffs as well. I cut them off, added a piece in the side just above as the the rest of the top is plenty big enough.

 This is the end result with a side panel and cuff in black. I am wearing it today but after the weather on Friday, not sure that I will get much wear out of it for work as the cold seems to have gone. A five dollar top transformed into a wearable piece and it still cost under $10, cheaper than buying at an op shop these days.
