Hump day

Yesterday was hump day for nanowrimo (national Novel writing month) and at the end of the day I was one day in front.

It has been a hard slog though and I feel as though I am going to run out of material.

I am learning some things along the way. I am writing a tongue in cheek book on Aging using the alphabet.

Last night I was on the P's and of course in aging just cant go past peeing, which lead me to prostate and I learnt so much about that, heard about it many times but now I am up with it.

Being hump day the count for the day was 25,000, half of the 50k required to get a "win" and I had a total of 26762. Every day the count goes up by 1667, of course one doesn't have to write every day of November to gain a win. I know some who write 10K in a weekend to catch up but that is not me, I prefer to write something every day if at all possible and this year so far I have.

Now I have my coffee and the house is quiet I have exercised my fingers and I am off to write.

Nanowrimo 2015

Its almost that time again. Last weekend I re-signed and made a donation, now I am ready to go on Sunday which is Nov first.

This year, I have decided to write a tongue in cheek  book. I have titled it the ABC of Aging and it will be either my own experience or experiences that I have heard about.

Using the Alphabet with its 26 letters, I figure that each chapter should have around about 2000 words, which will get me my total (50,000 words) for the month.

I have thought about some of the things that I can comment on such as Arthritis, Aches and Aids.

Going to work this morning with both hands on the steering wheel, I felt an itch on my knee, I removed my hand and scratched it. Placing my hand back on the wheel, I experienced an ache near the base of my thumb. Oh no, there's that dreaded arthritis! By the time I got to work the ache had gone away but tonight on the way home it started to ache again.

Warren bless his cotton socks massaged some of his sprain massage oil into it and it feels a bit better but still the ache is there when typing. Maybe I should stop but then IT has won.

I am hoping to have enough material, thoughts or just plain waffle to make the 50,000 words by the last day in November.

This will be my sixth Nanowrimo, the first one was our experiences about living and working in China, the second one was based on a few stories from my Grandfather that I had been told as a kid. The last three was a trilogy about a widowed young mum and her sisters in law. Each one I have started I have "won" which just means that I completed writing 50,000 words before the end of November, not that mine was selected as the best story.

Nanowrimo stands for National November writing month.

E book

I had down loaded an E book to my tablet and was reading it last night when I realised it is 135 pages long. The same length as mine that I wrote last year in Nano and editing at the moment. It had been a good read, think it was a free one and I happened to read some of the acknowledgments which I don't usually do. Maybe a word caught my eye, anyway this woman stated that she had written this book for nanowrimo in 2009. After the month and her novel was completed, she refined it and it has been published and put out to the world. Called something like Twenty eight and a half wishes. How neat is that?

nano no 2

It was the last day of Nano yesterday being the 30th of Nov and Nano being National Novel writing Month. I wrote 3k words of Saturday afternoon leaving me just under a thousand to make the deadline of 50K but I had come to a standstill. Sunday morning I was up early (for me anyway) as on waking i knew how I was going to finish. In an hour I had done the required amount to become a winner but my story wasn't finished so I did another 800 or so to tie  the ends together and finish where I wanted to be. 50,764 words in the end.

I don't intend to look at my novel until Jan giving me a month away from it. Although the organizers advise not to edit as you go, I do a little but there will be a lot more editing that needs to be done.

This is the third book in a trilogy and I want to get them published as one book, making around 160K words over the last three years.

Nano!

Its that time again, National Novel Writing Month, Nanowrimo or Nano for short. I am writing the third book in a trilogy and not sure if I have enough material to write it but I will give it a shot.

First day and I only wrote 860 words but I have always started off slow so wasn't fussed about it.

Woke up at 4.30am and I was wide awake and thinking over the satrt of my story and how it could be better. At 5.30am, I got up showered and dressed and wrote a thousand words before Warren woke up at his usual time around 6.45am.  he was very surprised as I am NOT a morning person.

Ended up with 2500 words written for the day so a little in front. Its 50,000 words to write in 30 days to achieve a win in Nanowrimo which breaks down to 1,667 words a day.

I should be writing now but I keep finding things to do instead. I have done just over 600 today. Looking at FB last night and some one wrote "Just hit 10K". My fingers wanted to write back "but do they all make sense?" but thought that would be rather unkind.
