A strange looking caravan

At a roadside stop, a strange vehicle was towed in. It had steps leading up and inside, a patio on the back with chairs and a table strapped down.

It was not a caravan at all but a small house boat, complete with mum and dad dogs.

Yep, the owners/driver and co driver hopped out of the car and went to the back of the car and out jumped two small dogs.

Nice looking boat, I guess they were moving from one spot to another.

Rain and thunder

So long since we have had rain. Last night Warren heard a noise and thought it was our garage door going up, then we realised it was thunder. We were hoping it would develop into some rain which it did.

Lucy had obviouslt forgotten what rain and thunder sounded like and while we were watching tv, she appeared between our chairs. She usually is tucked up i  her chair asleep while we are in the other room. She really needed to go outside for a wee but seemed hesitant so I went out with her, then she realised that it was only wet.

Nuce and damp this morning which made for great sniffs along the creek path when we went for a walk this morning. It was only a short walk as we were going to watch the boys soccer game but when Lucy and I got home, really to go, the game had been cancelled as the ground was too wet.

Hoping to get more rain over the weekend. We will just meet with the kids a little later but no soccer.

Mary Cairncross park

Parking was at a premium but we did sneak into the last one. We took the butterfky walk but didnt find any.
The views on the other side were incredible.
The Glasshouse mountains in the distance.
Then there was this little guy that looked like a dry leaf until we spied his legs hanging on for dear life. A bonus to see.

Dishwashers

Usually Warren empties the dishwasher in the morning while he is getting breakfast and my coffee. I have been up a couple of times in the night so as I was asleep when Warren got up, he left me in bed and went to tennis.

I woke a little later and while waiting for my coffee, I went to put his breakfast dishes in the empty dishwasher except I couldnt open it. Oh, well they can wait.

Drank my coffee, took Lucy for a walk and then Warren and I arrived back home at the same time. He told me that the dishwasher was stuck, hum, I had found the samd thing. He tried a knife, a pair of scissors then a screw driver.
Finally the crowbar!
But no, it had to be taken outside and forced open. Damn, everything had survived except my favourite cup, the handle was in two pieces!
This meant a trip to the GoodGuys as being without a dishwasher was not an option.

International Caching Day today.

We went out late and got our cache for the day to earn our souvenir. My sister thinks it is ridiculous but We took her with us for one find and she went from "Absolutely ridiculous" to "Im not sure that I would want to do it."
Now you see it.
Now you dont.

Walking along the dunes just up from the beach.

A 20 hour rest stop.

About two hours from home is a great spot to pull over for a break. There is a lot of room to park and turn a caravan around, picnic tables and toilets. Can stay overnight but only for 20 hours.

We stopped on our way north and while I hadnt done anything for lunch, except a flask of hot water, it didnt take long to make a sandwich and make a coffee while Warren took Lucy for a walk.

It was also our stop on the way home and it was difficult to get a park, some vans we recognized from four days earlier, seemed they were  staying more than the 20 hours as they were in the same spot.

Cheese!

Got to love cheese. We went to a boutique cheesery today mainly for lunch and to buy some yummy cheeses. We were not disappointed either way.
We shared a ham and cheese tart I would have said it was a pie but they listed it as a tart, who am I to disagree? It was served with a salad and cranberry sauce. My half strength cappuccino is in front. A scrumptious antipasto is in the rear, some cold meat, five different types of cheese, fresh crunchy bread, sun dried tomatoes and olives. There wasnt anything left on the plate.

Purchased some jams and cheeses to bring home

Lucy at the beach

Its a scary thing that water rushing in and it makes noise.

She loved walking along the beach, her tail was up and she was very happy but she walked at an angle to the waves, as she did not want to get her feet wet.
We had fish and chips, she had an ice cream in a cup before we walked home along the beach.

A Fairy Garden

One of the permanent sites at the caravan park has turned the small area around her van ibto a fairy garden. There is frog hollow, a small space that has all types of frogs. Another spot is all ducks another has gnomes etc etc.

The lady started it as a tribute to her husband after he died, she said it gave her a purpose. She had been a school teacher and now has kindergarten kids coming and she had little activities for them to do.

Little pig little pig.

Love to see these little guys at the show.
They were resting or feeding when we went past but later they would be racing.
I think they race about every hour, its just one circuit around hay bales and down a race and into a feed bowl of pellets.
They all, the ones that are racing, have a coat one with usually names of local pollies or business people that well known. Kids dotted around the arena when its race time are asked to name a pig and sometimes people bet on them. The pig one usually ends up as Peppa pig. The kid who chooses the best name wins a prize.
Its very exciting and the race caller gets more people in as well to watch, usually four and five deep.

Holy cow, its bats

I went for a haircut at my hairdresser home, got out of the car and heard bird noises, so I thought but no, they were bats up in the trees.

Apparently they squack all days as well as pooping every where. Of course they are protected so cant do anything about them.

These are just a few of them in the trees.

An old air strip

We found an old air strip the other day not far from the local show that we went to. Except for geo caching I would not have known it was there.
This sign is just off the road but I doubt many people notice it. There are several slabs of concrete and that is all that is left. Warren had walked just by the cache which was by one of the slabs. A nice piece of history

Island dancers

As we were leaving the show, the music drew us to an area and we stopped to listen and watch.

Five young girls were dancing they looked like they were from one of the pacific island regions and they were performing some if the dances. I guess they were aged from twelve to fifteen. One girl was chewing chewing gum all through the performance.
The girl on the right of the photo looked the oldest and the rest seemed to following her lead.
The musicians off to the side and it looked like a troupe of boys were waiting to take their turn.

Dagwood Dogs

Who on earth would have named these thingS? Definitely a thing that went with local shows although I do seem to remember they were available at home (in Sth Aussie) at the drive-in.

We went to the bigger show on Friday which was a bit of a disappointment because the parking was a nightmare and there was very little going on. It was a local school day and there were lots of school kids there and there did seem to be several school bands performances.

I like to go to see the handcrafts, the art and photography. We went reasonably early and saw the entries then lunch.
Sheepdogs were rounding up ducks just off the side of us, apparently the sheep needed a break so they brought out some ducks which the dogs were expected to herd around and then back to their crate.

Saturday 4 August 2018

Another quick project

After my tablet and phone pockets that I made the other day, I thought I would make a hanger to attach to the side table for the remotes to sit in.

I know its a first world problem but we have four remotes. One for TV, one for dvd and the other is for top set and then there is a overhead fan remote.

They take up a lot of room on a small table so here is my solution.
I had some scrap material, dont even know where it came from but it was handy for this.
It is heavier than I thought it would be so it doesnt sit as flush as I would like so I may need to some velcro on the back of the holder and corresponding strip on the edge of the table. I will leave it for a few days and see how it goes. The extra velcro would be a quick five minute fix so no biggy at all.

A mad dash

I realised that I had a fair few things to do before the weekend. Dont ask me why it is so important to get tgese things done, it is just a task that I set myself.

I had had a ladies lunch, then home.
Things to do, return books to library, due back before Saturday
Post a parcel, not due until Oct but wanted parcel gone so I no longer had to think about it. Drop things at op shop, again no hurry.

Two big things that would take time, grocery shopping and a trip to another town about seventy minutes away.

Friday I want to go to an event.

Discussed with Warren about going to the other town, he suggested tomorrow and stay for lunch. Always up for lunch but couldnt see that he would want to be up for the other things as well.

After watching our show on TV that keeps my mind active, I did the mad dash, everything had been put in the car during the ads.

First op shop, pulled and three trips to their bins, then off again. Parked at library and walked to post office, usually quick to get served but it seemed most people were sending parcels and there was a line up. Pick up books from car, into library and exchange books, both machines were free so didnt take long. Then get into the correct lane so I can in pull in to Meat City and do the meat and vege shopping. Luckily I did have a $1 coin for their trolleys.

Pulled into driveway one hour and five minutes after I left, put groceries away and serve dinner from the crock pot that had been cooking all day. Argh, now two fun things to do over the next two days oh and a little bit more shopping to fill in the gaps, which will only take ten minutes tops!
