Dingo, the town.

This was our second stop over on our trip. Some businesses have closed up, looked like proir to covid, just a small town getting smaller.

Trains go through there still, not sure if they stop for passengers or mainly coal trains, we heard a few in the night, not loud enough to wake but heard in the evening.

They do boast of having The dingo trap throwing completion in August so we just missed it.

Nice clean caravan park. There was a statue of a skinny dingo in the main street. I know singles are usually lean looking but this really needed a good meal.

Onwards to Bluff, Blackwater, Comet and Emerald, pulling into Capella

Mt Coolum.

Yay, at the top, it only took two hours to get there.
Sheridan had been urging me to do this for awhile, finally I set a date to do it. Luckily it was a nice cool day.

Lots of stone steps lots of people going up and coming down, we estimated 2 or 300 hundred in the time we were there. Some were running it. I didn't take many photos, too busy watching where I was putting my feet.

Nice view from the top, we sat for awhile enjoying the scenery. Then it was the return journey when my shoulders started to ache, I think from looking down and also my feet/toes, again I think because they were tipped down all the way. It took an hour to get down again.

After all the steps and switch backs, this was the final stretch to the top, about 300 metres of Rocky path.

Yowie Hunting

We were out caching and one was called Yowie up. Now a yowie is a myth but there are plenty of them around if you know where to look. I think he/they look like a cousin to Chewbacca in Star wars.

Anyway we were looking and I said to Warren that I was a metre away, he said that he had spied a string, we looked up and our yowie.

His head screwed off and the log was in there. Cute! It is a reasonably new one, out about four months and already had 17 favourite pts. We added one as well.

Leopard tree

Walking along the beach the other day, this tree was in seed? Warren told me that it's common name was the leopard tree because the seed pods look like the spots on a leopard. We also saw a turtle.

Then this was our view when we had lunch.

Drawstring toiletry bags

The charity that I sew, knit and crochet for have been looking for toiletry bags. They receive soaps, shampoos, toothbrushes and the like which they pack into small bags so they can be given to people in need.

I had spare pieces of fabric and I made a few bags but the cord was $3.30 a metre, as one takes approx half a metre, it is the most expensive part of them. I had bought four metres but that didnt make many. I was trying to come up with an alternative which one of the members posted on Facebook that venetion blind cord was much cheaper.

I asked Warren to pick me up some when he was next in Bunnings. It was $5.30 for a 30 metre roll, that will keep me in draw strings for awhile. Depending on the fabric piece, I aim to make them about A4 size.

Warren's latest project.

Earlier in the year, I asked Warren to make screens for the windows alongthe side of the house before the next summer.

He had made similar for the front patio a couple of years ago.

He was able to buy the wood the length that he wanted 1.8m and so only had to cut the height. When he went to fit them, they were a little long.  He remeasured the window, yep they were both 1.8m wide. The wood was sold as 1.8m but in actual fact it was 30mms wider. He undid the shade cloth on the ends and with my help, I had to hold it up to go through the saw, he trimmed 15mm off each end.

It has cut the heat and brightness in the rooms and will be even better once it's really hot.

Spring is in the air

Haven't seen or felt any dive bombing magpies yet, thank goodness but trees are starting to blossom.

Somewhere in this tree there is a birds nest.
