Day one of our big lap

I intended to blog every day but of course forgetting that blogging requires service and internet both of which were almost non existent yesterday and Monday.

We set off at 10.02 am, not bad considering that was the time I had set upon but always having a fudge factor of thirty minutes either side. The photo was taken at our first stop only 45 minutes from home but Warren always likes to check the load and how everything is travelling. All was good and as chance would have it, it was outside one of our haunts for morning coffee, although we have only ventured there on the bike before.

A pasty and an iced coffee to share after all it is going to be six months at least before we darken their doors again. Stop was at CJ's 

First day and within budget, $75 to fill the car and $25 for the caravan park at Moonie. I want to come in at around $100 a day, $700 a week may be $800. Of course it helps that we have taken a lot of food from home and eating from that.

This first week is just about getting to Melbourne so we are travelling each day and it is very hot.

My Room Renovation/make over

I read a magazine a few weeks ago and it showed a sewing room make over. I loved the idea and it stayed in my mind for awhile as I mulled it over. Finally I thought to myself, I really love that and I could do it without too much hassle, cost or too much effort on Warren's part.

I do sew a lot but sometimes I know I put off going into the sewing room because it is so messy.

Messy messy messy!

I love a good challenge, I also set myself a budget of $250. There is a stain on the carpet, a towel at one stage was used to mop up rain/water that came in through the sky light then colour leeched out of towel onto the carpet. 

New carpet of carpet squares? Humm there goes the budget so no new carpet.

First thing to do was to tidy, cupboard had to go and also the steel cabinet.

This cupboard replaced it, two solid drawers at the bottom now hold any important papers that we need to keep. Cost of cupboard was $119 and the cloth drawers were $5 each solid ones were $15, $209 out of my budget, but what a difference it makes.

Well, at least one side looks alright. A couple of hours of work resulted in this.

No more table to dump stuff on. Nothing wrong with the curtains except they were too full and kept out light so I re fashioned them. Warren put up the clock that I had brought back from China, he also put up the double curtain rods and the peg board which is behind the sewing machine on the wall.

Since the photo was taken I have a shelf on the top of the peg board with some small baskets holding cottons and ribbons and the iron.

Why did I not do this years ago?

An exciting afternoon

We sat down with our daughter and planned our trip around Australia! (She and I planned we figured that we will just tell hubbies what and when we are doing something).  Its a while off yet but we want t get an idea for how much time we will have to spend at different places. I didn't think we would have enough time to go to Cairns but its in the plan Woo hoo!

I have even worked out a budget that we will/may need.

Watching a DVD of a family who went with two small children and the stuff they took, we each have said we are NOT taking that much stuff. We have already bought a washing machine between us as the washing for six will add up but don't want to take a lot of clothes so washing will need to be fairly regular.

Going on our second little shake down tour in a couple of days, again to see what we need and what we dont use. Ugh going in school holidays as it costs more damn!
